I was thinking today…what if our lives were visible to everyone through television. They could see everything we were doing but the sound was turned completely off. What would they learn about our priorities and our faith from what they saw if they couldn’t hear our words? Hmmmmm.

This is a great time of year to decide what you want to invest in, personally. Most of us would like to know the Bible more, but just don’t know where to begin or which study is best. Here are my top 3 recommendations, beyond those you may have in your own home church.
BSF – Bible Study Fellowship This is great if you want a real meaty study of the Bible. It has daily homework and a fair amount of reading. You’ll love it if you’re ready for a serious commitment. CBS – Community Bible Study This is a lot like BSF but if you want a study that’s a little more relaxed without quite as much homework this is for you. Alpha - If you want to know more about what the Christian beliefs are or don’t have a lot of background in the Christian faith, this is a great study. 1. Suffering comes with the freedom to choose. The freedom to choose is at the heart of what it means to be human. A world without choice would be worse than a world without pain. Worse yet would be a world where people who make wrong choices cannot feel any pain or the result of their sometimes harmful decisions.

Growing up, going to church was an important weekly ritual. It’s wasn’t great. Not terrible. My parents required my attendance in church until I was in 9th grade and then it was my choice whether to go or not. I chose not to. I still prayed on occasion, but mainly asked God to make me more popular at school and to make me irrisistible to the boy I had a crush on that week. Read more »

It was advertised that the devil was going to put his tools up for sale. On the date of the sale, the tools were placed for public inspection; each tool being marked with its sale price. They were a treacherous lot of implements…..Hatred, Envy, Jealousy, Deceit, Lying, Pride, and so on.
Laid apart from the rest was a harmless looking tool, well worn and priced very high.
“What is the name of this tool?” asked one of the purchasers, pointing to it.
“That is Discouragement”, replied the devil.
“Why have you priced it so high?”
“Because it is more useful to me than the others. I can pry open and get inside a man’s heart with that when I cannot get near him with my other tools. Once I get inside, I can make him do what I choose. It is badly worn because I use it on almost everyone, since very few people know that it belongs to me.”
My friend, don’t let Satan discourage you in anyway. You are God’s child and have the victory already won. All you have to do is keep your faith on the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ. The devil will not have a chance to discourage you, even with his best tools.
